UPDATE: He was on a “paddle board” – not boat. The article has been corrected.

Just bizarre!

Nearly 54 years to the day (July 19, 1969) since Democrat Sen. Ted Kennedy drove a car off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island, just off Martha’s Vineyard, another bizarre drowning has taken place connected to a high-profile Democrat. The personal chef of Barack and Michelle Obama has drowned mysteriously in a pond on the property of their $12 million Martha’s Vineyard estate. He reportedly drowned after being out on the pond on a paddle-board with another person on a paddle board. Details are sparse. The Obamas issued a statement saying they are “heartbroken.”

The Obamas’ Martha’s Vineyard mansion is located in Edgartown, Massachusetts, which is about 10 miles from the Dike Bridge in Chappaquiddick Island, where Ted Kennedy drove off the bridge in 1969. The exact distance between the two locations is 6.2 miles, as the crow flies. However, the roads between Edgartown and Chappaquiddick are not direct, so the actual driving distance is about 12 miles.

It will be interesting to see what further details emerge from this mysterious incident. . . .

The former White House sous chef for Barack and Michelle has been identified as the man found dead following a paddle boarding accident on the Obama’s property in Martha’s Vineyard.

Tafari Campbell’s body was recovered on Monday by divers after going missing in the pond that backs on to Barack Obama‘s sprawling $12million estate.

The 45-year-old vanished on Sunday evening while he was out with another paddleboarder on Edgartown Great Pond, Massachusetts, and emergency crews were dispatched to Obama’s residence. . . . .

Witnesses first told cops on Sunday night that a man – later identified as Campbell went underwater and then briefly reappeared as he struggled to stay afloat, before submerging again around 7.46pm.

The witness – who was not identified – was paddle boarding on Edgartown Great Pond with Campbell.

A massive joint-agency search was launched when a 911 call was made from the Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard home on Turkeyland Cove Road.

The search resumed Monday morning for the venerated chef who was last seen wearing all black without a lifejacket.

His paddle board and hat were recovered Sunday – and his body was found around 10am in the eight-foot-deep waters approximately 100 feet away from shore at 10am Monday.

The dispatch address for the incident came from Obama’s Martha’s waterfront Vineyard home. . . . .
