Per Joe Biden&#8217;s declaration, the COVID National Emergency will officially end on May 11. I think most sensible Americans were over COVID a long time ago. Even the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/05\/05\/who-declares-end-to-covid-global-public-health-emergency.html\">World Health Organization has declared the COVID Pandemic to be over.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The US government\u2019s count of new Covid-19 cases has been dropping for months. Soon, it will disappear entirely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands of Americans are still contracting the coronavirus each week. But when the public health emergency ends May 11, laboratories across the country will no longer be\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-08-12\/cdc-takes-back-control-of-pandemic-hospitalization-data-despite-criticism\" target=\"_blank\">required<\/a>\u00a0to report Covid test results to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That will eventually mean no more weekly infection, transmission and community-level numbers in CDC\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#datatracker-home\" target=\"_blank\">Covid Data Tracker<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concern about the pandemic is rapidly flagging as infection levels fall to those seen in the earliest months of the outbreak. The World Health Organization also moved to end its global health&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-05-05\/who-says-covid-19-global-health-emergency-is-over\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">emergency<\/a>&nbsp;Friday, lowering its alert level for the pandemic three years after the lethal disease was first seen in China.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>US infection data had already become increasingly unreliable as Americans began opting for at-home, rapid Covid tests \u2014 which most patients don\u2019t report \u2014 rather than laboratory assays, like PCR. . . . <\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/health\/other\/us-covid-case-count-to-go-dark-as-public-health-emergency-ends\/ar-AA1aNcos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BLOOMBERG<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The case-counting for COVID is about to stop!
