President Donald Trump has been found liable by a Manhattan, New York jury of sexual assault against a woman named E. Jean Carroll. They also found Trump liable of defamation against her. They have ordered Trump to pay her damages as a result of the Civil judgment in the amount of $5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accusation is that this happened in 1996 (she wasn’t sure of the exact date) at a Department Store. The jury apparently did not believe Carroll in claiming she had been raped by Trump, but found that Trump did sexually assault her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carroll, 79, held her head down as the verdict was read in Manhattan federal court \u2014 and nodded when she heard the jury finding in favor of her defamation claim for Trump, 76, branding her a liar when she came forward with her allegations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The nine-person jury \u2014 three women and six men \u2014 decided the case after three hours of deliberations that began just before noon Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neither Carroll nor her attorney, Roberta Kaplan, spoke to the mass of reporters outside the Lower Manhattan courthouse as they left hand in hand, with the former \u201cAsk E. Jean\u201d columnist breezing through the crowd and into a waiting car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jurors rejected Carroll\u2019s claim in her 2019 suit that Trump had raped her, but found him liable for sexual abuse. Carroll had accused Trump of attacking her in a fitting room at the Fifth Avenue department store, most likely in 1996.
