Gavin Newsom has refused to support the insane recommendation of his own Reparations Task Force to pay Black California residents up to a possible $1.2 million each as reparations for Slavery and its vestiges. I don&#8217;t know what Newsom thought such a task force would come up with, but it was totally predictable they would come up with some crazy figure like they did. Gavin Newsom declined to throw his support behind cash payments of up to $1.2 million for black residents&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/03\/04\/californian-boosts-reparations-figure-to-360k-for-each-black-citizen\/\">recommended by his reparations task force<\/a>, according to a report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Democratic governor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/california-gov-newsom-declines-back-reparations-checks-says-slaverys-legacy-more-cash-payments\">told Fox News Digital&nbsp;<\/a>on Tuesday that reparations \u2014 meant to take responsibility for the country\u2019s history of slavery and systemic racism \u2014 \u201cis about much more than cash payments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He called the task force\u2019s findings a milestone in the effort to advance justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis has been an important process, and we should continue to work as a nation to reconcile our original sin of slavery and understand how that history has shaped our country,\u201d Newsom said in a statement to the outlet. \u201cDealing with that legacy is about much more than cash payments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he declined to endorse any specific recommendations by the task force while still praising its work, according to the publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany of the recommendations put forward by the Task Force are critical action items we\u2019ve already been hard at work addressing: breaking down barriers to vote, bolstering resources to address hate, enacting sweeping law enforcement and justice reforms to build trust and safety, strengthening economic mobility \u2014 all while investing billions to root out disparities and improve equity in housing, education, healthcare, and well beyond,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nine-member committee voted in favor of several recommendations Saturday including cutting eligible black Californians a minimum of $360,000 in checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The task force recommended that the state create a new agency that would determine how much each black resident was owed by California as a result of their ancestors being enslaved or racist policies like redlining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group\u2019s suggested payments range from a few thousand to as much as $1.2 million depending on a series of eligibility factors, like past incarceration and housing discrimination, according to Fox News. . . . <\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/10\/newsom-declines-to-endorse-reparations-checks-proposed-by-california-task-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NEW YORK POST<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">California\u2019s planning to give out $800 billion in reparations, which would raise Californians taxes by $25,000.
