This decision right&#8217;s the decades long Affirmative Action wrong &#8211; the ideology that it is okay to discriminate in order to end discrimination. The Supreme Court has said, not any longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cases ruled on were brought by Asian Americans who have been discriminated against in order to carve out raced-based preferences for African-Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/22pdf\/20-1199_hgdj.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday ruled that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/10\/31\/supreme-court-hears-challenge-to-affirmative-action-in-college-admission.html\">affirmative action<\/a>&nbsp;admission policies of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Harvard<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of North Carolina<\/a>&nbsp;are unconstitutional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ruling is a massive blow to decades-old efforts to boost enrollment of minorities at American universities through policies that took into account applicants\u2019 race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it,\u201d wrote Chief Justice John Roberts in the majority opinion, which all five of his fellow conservative justices joined in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roberts wrote said that both Harvard\u2019s and UNC\u2019s affirmative action programs \u201cunavoidably employ race in a negative manner, involve racial stereotyping, and lack meaningful end points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have never permitted admissions programs to work in that way, and we will not do so today,\u201d Roberts wrote, finding that the universities\u2019 policies violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution\u2019s 14th Amendment.
